Preparing for your appointment
Before
Come to your appointments with clean lashes.
Residue such as makeup, naturally produced oil, sweat etc. on your lashes creates a barrier between your natural lashes and the adhesive. The adhesive will not bond properly and the extensions will detach from the natural lash. The cleaner your lashes are when they are applied the longer your extensions will last. Get the most out of your appointment and come with freshly cleansed lashes.
Avoid caffeine before your appointment.
Caffeine affects the lash application process in several ways. It can make you anxious or antsy and hard for you to stay still and relax for an extended period of time. It can make you more talkative and it can cause jittery, fluttering eyes. This makes it difficult to properly apply extensions. Please be aware of your level of tolerance and avoid it as close to your appointment as possible
Use the bathroom before.
If you have to get up during your appointment it takes away from the amount of extensions I am able to apply.
Arrive on time.
Your appointment time is not extended if you are late. Even a few minutes takes away from the amount of extensions I am able to apply.
During
Relax.
The more relaxed you are during the appointment the more extensions I am able to apply. In order to properly apply extensions I need to separate single natural eyelashes from the rest. Multiple natural eyelashes and or extensions that are stuck together can causes irritation, pain and possible damage to your natural eyelashes. Talking, smiling and laughing may cause facial muscles to move and eyes to flutter. Some people use their hands or move their heads while talking. Extensions are applied with large tweezers and adhesive, not only do I work quicker and more efficiently while you are still but it’s also for safety.
This is not to say you can not talk or move at all during the appointment. It’s hard for some people to relax and are more comfortable talking which is ok, I just ask for you to be mindful of your movements and know that I will not be able to work as quickly. We don’t get many opportunities to enjoy time to ourselves or to lay down for an extended period of time with our eyes closed. Feel free to take advantage of the opportunity and bring earbuds to listen to a podcast, an audiobook, your favorite music or even take a nap.
After
Avoid oil products on and around eye area.
Oil will break down the adhesive and extensions will slide off prematurely
Be mindful of creams, serums etc. that contain oil even when applied to other areas of your face.
These products can migrate to your lashes and affect retention
Wash lashes daily whether you are wearing make up or not.
Body oil, sweat, skin cells, dirt, pollen, makeup, and other microparticles get trapped between your lashes daily and need to be removed for the health of your eyes and for the best retention
Use a fluffy cleansing brush to clean thoroughly.
If wearing eye makeup, use an oil free eye makeup remover first then follow with regular cleansing routine.
Lash cleanser is not the same as make up remover. It may remove some particles but most will remain and build up eventually becoming hard to remove and causing the extensions to shed from the natural eyelash.
Wash lashes with a cleanser that is safe for eyes and extensions.
Do not use your face cleanser. Face cleansers are often targeted to treat specific conditions and include ingredients that will affect retention
Wash lashes after washing face and hair.
To wash away any ingredients that may have migrated to the eye area
Wash lashes after sweating, swimming or crying as soon as possible.
Salt and chlorine will break down the adhesive
Blot lashes dry with a lint free towel after cleansing.
Brush lashes daily.
Only when they are dry
Do not pick, pull or rub lashes.
Excessive heat / steam can singe or melt extensions.
Be cautious when opening oven, BBQ, rice cooker, using hot tools etc
